Jess was not going to find a one-night stand. No matter how hard she tried, she was incapable.

"I'm going to die alone," she announced. "Full-on, crazy cat lady, find-my-body-with-Desert-Orchid-pictures."

"No, you're not. Maybe you're just looking in the wrong pool, Jess."

The brunette glanced over at Cece, blinking profusely. "You're saying maybe go for I should go for the girls?"

"No, I'm saying that you should start dating more matu--Jess? Oh god, Jess, where are you going?"

"I'm getting me some lady lumps, Cece. I'm getting me some tail."

Cece's sigh was obvious even in the bar, but Jess was moving in. Homing in. Like a rocket, or a missile. Or something that homes in. A homing-thing. Yeaaaaaah, she was on a roll!

Alright. Focus, Jess. Look at the ladies. You've liked them, that's no secret. Blue eyes roam around the area. Guy, guy, guy--

Bingo.

"Sooo." Jess slid into the seat opposite the other brunette, glancing over at Cece and giving her the thumbs up. The model, however, was shaking her head desperately. "I'm Jess, and I'm just letting you know like right off the bat I rock a lot of polka dots and do you have a problem with glitter?"

Jess likes to take a break once and a while--and by break, it's more 'listen to music on her iPhone and grade tests while Heather's away.' She's sitting in the cafe that's her usual on her half-days, and currently, instead of grading, she has the glitter out.

It's a miracle she hasn't been kicked out of this place before.

She looks up from making her neon pink bristol-board creation and spots a familiar face with another girl and her face immediately lights up--this is perfect. Perfect. What better way to be nice and also relate the fact that if Heather has a pregnancy scare Jess will go into a coma from surprise and rage?

The blue-eyed girl makes her way to the counter, ordering coffee--and making sure to make it just a little bit shit for Tillman so he can like Heather's even more--and, wearing a pretty 30's style dress covered in gold glitter, the girl sets two cups of coffee down and pulls up a seat.

"Hi." She smiles, and then claps her hands slightly. "Okay, buckaroo, I was going to save this for later but since you're here we have to have The Talk. About your popsicle, if you know what I'm saying, eh? Eeeeeeh?"

Jessica Day is a lot of things. Spontaneous. Positive. Quirky! One of those rare morning people. Also, those really happy ones who believe in things like luck and dreams and hope and positive encouragement. And for some reason, she was Heather Mason's flatmate.

Jess is sure it started as a bet, or maybe a science experiment but whatever it is turned into something that she definitely didn't want to throw away. Heather was her best friend in the world, and nothing could ever get away from that. Except for maybe the knock on their apartment door.

"I'M INNER MONOLOGUING! HEATHER, COULDJA GET THAT?"

Silence.

Scrunching her nose up, Jess glanced at the clock. Heather was in class, which meant she was alone, which meant that no, her personal movie would have to wait. Damn. She was in the middle of eating a jar of grape jelly using a Three Musketeers bar, too. Shrugging, the girl headed towards the door, opening it and immediately smacking her lips.

"Where's the package?"
